Our Approach
Character first. Purpose always. A clear path forward.
At Ignite Academy, we don't start with job skills — we start with the student. Our approach is built on a simple belief: when a young person understands who they are and why they matter, everything else begins to fall into place. Purpose becomes the foundation for every next step.
Purpose + Skill = Ignites Transformation
When a student uncovers their purpose and discovers a skill, something awakens inside them. It's a true foundation to build a life on — and the moment everything changes.
A Proven Path from Discovery to Direction
Our semester-based programming (typically 8-10 weeks) takes students through three integrated phases — building a foundation they carry with them for life.
The Mission Portrait™ & 7 Igniters™
Developed by Wildfire Leadership — delivered through Ignite Academy
Our Ignite Students program is this curriculum — and it's the core of everything we do. Over an 8-10 week semester, students go through character development and purpose discovery together — exploring their story, building emotional intelligence, and creating a personal vision for their future. Every student walks away with two things:
The Mission Portrait™
A visual framework that helps students articulate who they are and what they're called to do. Students take this with them as a lasting reminder of their identity and purpose.
The 7 Igniters™
A personal roadmap that builds off their purpose — providing clear direction and practical next steps. This becomes their guide for what comes next in life.
Story Work
Exploring their background and the experiences that shaped them.
Social-Emotional Skills
Impulse control, empathy, communication, and conflict resolution.
Values-Based Leadership
The internal compass that guides healthy decisions.
Real-World Pathways
Armed with their Mission Portrait and personal roadmap, students are equipped with a foundation to build on. This step connects the dots — helping students take their purpose and turn it into action through real-world opportunities.
Job Shadowing
Exploring careers that align with their purpose and interests.
Workforce Training
Students get a taste of different skilled trades — automotive, construction, welding — to discover what resonates with them.
Life Mentorship
Ongoing one-on-one mentoring that continues long after the semester ends.
Workforce development is optional, not required. When a community wants to integrate workforce skills training, it runs in parallel with the character development and purpose discovery curriculum. But the core programming stands on its own — every student benefits from discovering their purpose, with or without the trades component.
Group Creates Safety. One-on-One Creates Breakthrough.
We believe every student needs community, consistency, and connection. Our mentoring model delivers all three.
We Believe Every Student Needs:
Community
They're not alone
Consistency
Someone who shows up
Connection
Someone who knows them
Group Mentoring (All Students)
Story, Mission Portrait™, 7 Igniters™ — delivered in a group setting during the semester.
Outcome: Students feel seen, known, and part of something bigger than themselves.
One-on-One Mentoring (Targeted)
Personal challenges, accountability, decision-making, and deeper growth — for students who need or want more.
Outcome: Students experience real, personal breakthrough.
Touch Points (Beyond the Program)
Rides to/from program, meals together, attending games/events, real-life conversations, showing up in hard moments.
Outcome: Trust is built → influence grows → lives change.
Life Mentorship
When the semester ends, the relationship doesn't have to. Our Life Mentorship program offers ongoing one-on-one mentoring for students who want to continue growing — providing the consistency and connection they need as they navigate their next steps in life.
The goal is not just behavior change — it's helping students discover who they are, that they have purpose, and that they are capable of more.
